A Brief History of Peace Presbyterian in Four Parts
2003
- Indigenous folks asked for a PCUSA church in the Lakewood Ranch area
- Presbytery provided a Steering Pastor - Chris Curvin
- "New Faith" met monthly at Out of Door Academy
- A Leadership was formed (gradually)
2004
- Identified partner churches: Church of the Palms & First Pres., Sarasota
- Met twice monthly at Living Lord Lutheran Church
- Wrote a grant application to General Assembly
- Established a Pastor Nominating Committee
- Wrote a Church Information Form
- Secured and built website
2005
- Called Elizabeth Deibert as Organizing Pastor (May 2005)
- Individual ministry teams began to take shape
- Began meeting weekly Sunday evening at Living Lord Lutheran- exploring worship
- Defined core values
- Identified space to meet Sunday mornings
- Started hiring staff (December 2005)
2006
- Began worshipping Sunday mornings at Manatee Community College
- Various new articles on Peace were published.
- Road signs placed on local byways on Sunday mornings
- Continued identifying staff
- Mass mailing blitz to 15,000 area homes
- Launched morning worship on Palm Sunday and Easter
